Spending some time with your photographer ahead of time is crucial to making this a more comfortable experience when the special day finally arrives. You want to know that you get along with them on a personal level, that they can capture the real love between you and your other half, and that they’ll offer personalized suggestions to create the best possible pictures just for you. The best way to accomplish this goal is to schedule an engagement session and spend an hour or two talking, laughing, and creating something beautiful together.
· It’s an opportunity to practice being in front of the camera
The same way it’s important for you to be comfortable with your photographer, it’s also important for you to get comfortable with the camera they’re carrying. If you’re shy or feel awkward about picture taking, an engagement session can help you get over these feelings. You and your significant other will be the center of attention from start to finish on your wedding day, so this is a great opportunity to get some practice, and identify styles that you like or dislike.

If you have older or out-of-state friends or relatives traveling for the wedding, it may be difficult for them to plan the trip if they only receive the wedding invitation six to eight weeks before the big event.
