What Moms and Dads Should Wear to a Newborn Photography Session

You've booked your newborn session with family photos, too; yay! But now you're wondering what you and your partner should wear. Patterns? Solids? Bright colors? Neutrals? Help!!! There are many options on what you can wear for your photography session. However, my suggestions focus on making that sweet new bundle of joy the star in every photo!

We want the image's focus to be on the connection you share with your baby rather than the clothing. Therefore, we suggest a simple black, white, or grey tank top/blouse for mom and a matching plain tee for dad with some jeans. Mom and Dad shots are close-up, so most of what you wear will not be shown.

Moms, keep make-up looking natural as possible. Avoid using too much hairspray; soft hair photographs best with newborns. Be sure to take nail polish off or paint your nails with a neutral color. Avoid long earrings or necklaces. We want all of the attention to be on you and your baby! It's also a good idea to bring a change of clothing...you may be holding a naked baby, and we all know how much newborns pee & poop!

If any siblings are in the photos, we recommend a simple white or grey top with jeans and bare feet. Please remove their socks and shoes at the start of the session to get them used to it. For little girls, please avoid hair accessories unless they are minimal and a neutral color.

You will be in love with your final photos and be able to cherish them for a lifetime.
